hair snow

I think if you're stranded on a desert island, having stinky hair is among the least of your worries. Unfortunately, I do not have that excuse. I do think it's my conditioner though, which is a Shopper's Drug Mart Life Brand conditioner, and last time my hair got smelly was when I used another Shoppers' product. I guess I really should just shower more often, but lately the concept of showering seems kinda repellent to me for reasons unknown.

It snowed today, so my 30-minute drive to work was extended by about 75 minutes. I remember someone saying once that in Toronto we talk about the amount of time things are from each other, rather than the distance. Such as work being 25 minutes away, instead of 30 kilometers. I never really thought about it before, it's just the way people talk about it.

Christmas is fast approaching. Gifts bought: zero. Gifts received: zilch. Amount of anticipation for the approaching New Year: nada.

Dude, my sister lived in France for a year, and she got used to washing her hair weekly - once you've done it for long enough, your hair feels the same after a week as ours does after a day. Allegedly.

Mind you, she said that, but french people don't wear deodorant either. Erg.

I didn't know hair got stinky!

Sticky, yes. But whatshisface is right, after a while, your scalp stops overproducing oil/sebum.

Potamophobia perhaps?

My skin gets disturbingly dry after I have a shower. I think that's my main complaint. There's just this general aversion from showering unless I actually feel like I need one. And generally I don't feel I need one unless I've worked out or sweated etc.

I have since stopped using conditioner and my hair no longer stinks! Thank you and good night.

filmreview oldboy snow haroldandkumar

Can you believe it? A weekend of flurries. Some April Fool's. The real joke was getting my car stuck in the road up to Angela's farm in Stouffville. Quite the physical challenge. For a while it looked like we'd have to break down and call up a tow-truck.

And thus I missed out on a Rainbow Six LAN party. Perhaps it's for the best.

I saw three other movies this weekend; Go, Anchorman and Oldboy. Go's a fun and unpredictable Christmas holiday as experienced by three groups of young protagonists, who through greed, lust, or.. well, mostly greed and lust manage to work their way into delicate situations and then, somehow, find their way out again. I liked it. Lots of laughs.

Anchorman was just hella funny. I know I know, the commercials make it look like another tired Saturday Night Live bastard, but it's actually pretty funny and had me laughing a fair amount. The situation, in terms of expectation and delivery, is entirely comparable to that of Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle; the film looks bad, but it's really quite good.

The last film, Oldboy, is one of those freaky asian films that don't fit too well with Western morals. But, if you can get your head around certain bizarre (sometimes kinky, sometimes gory) scenes and an outrageous, improbable plot, you'll be rewarded with an intense mystery/thriller/revenge flick. And it's not pointless shock -- after a while the beauty of the revelations begin to really sink in. Deep. Oldboy is a film you have to think over and behold and marvel at, whether it disgusts or impresses you. It is exquisite and fascinating, an alien thing that is hard to ignore or forget.

charity snow

Blast those greedy bums... I was going through my list of charities that I've been thinking of donating to and when I got to "Ontario food bank" via google, it sent me to CanadaHelps.org, "Canada's only donation portal". A bit of reading and one discovers that they pocket 3% of donations as a transaction fee. Right, they charge more than those 3rd party ATM machines. Makes me sick it does.

Snow is here. I kind of like it, as it gives me an excuse not to do anything which I am GREAT AT.

2010/07/20 llamariffic Hmm, macrocytosis here as well, but to be honest I've had it since before I truly embarked on drinking as a proper hobby. Similarly, stopped drinking entirely, and it didn't go away. Just one of those things, I think.
2010/07/19 girl ack!! It's weird to think that I am now a parental unit. It was nice to see you hwan!
2010/05/21 Hwan I recall trying earplugs well back in my undergrad years, to mixed results. My sleep was troubled by feelings of claustrophobia. I also have a, perhaps unfounded, fear of not hearing the essential alarm in the mornings. However, I may give these another go, thanks.
2010/05/21 llamatron Have you tried sleeping with earplugs? My flat faces out onto a main road, so I've started using the standard foam plugs. It took a few nights to get used to them, but they make a big difference.
