greatteacheronizuka unrealtournament

Kill Bill 2 is coming out this week.. not that I'll be catching it in the theatre. I absolutely refuse to pay for half of a film. I have been meaning to see Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, which is the last on my list of current "to watch in the theatre" films, except for perhaps Dawn of the Dead.

Which reminds me... don't you find it funny that Hellboy beat out Dawn of the Dead, which in turn ousted The Passion of the Christ? Although there appears to be a second coming of said biblical film, perhaps in retaliation to the unholy Hellboy's ratings rise?

Great zombie Jesus -- Monica Belluci (Persephone from The Matrix 2/3) plays Magdalene?? Huh.. passion indeed. OH and didja hear that they're re-releasing Monty Python's The Life of Brian? Or was that an April Fool's thing? I hate that stupid tradition -- as if there isn't enough junk out there already.

Er, can you tell that not much is going on? I did get a lot of viewing done this weekend -- watched some season 2 24, Zatoichi, GTO (live action!). That last one I would recommend to anyone, whether a fan of the original manga/anime or not. The conversion has been implemented extremely well and is worth seeing as a series on its own, and doesn't feature the zaniness of either of the other mediums. I also played a few hours of UT2K4, which I MAY buy if anyone else I know buys a copy. It is really fun (once you get around the lag aspect), and the single-player is addictive and challenging as well. And the maps! Ye GODS there are a lot of maps, and all of them very pretty. Quite a few throwbacks too -- man I'd forgotten how much I'd played this game.

poker

I gotta admit, I do like watching World Poker Tour. Have you caught a glimpse of it yet? They play no-limit Texas Hold'em, starting with six players. It's a fun, gutsy version of poker (you only hold two cards in your hand). Actually, what really got me started on it lately was reading Wil Wheaton's firsthand account of playing in a tournament. Fascinating stuff. Be sure to read all four (2,3,4) entries.

The WPT show is still in its infancy (I'd say), as they're constantly explaining the game and filling in time with trivia and such. I'd rather just watch the games themselves. From what I've seen, playing erratically (but not without purpose) seems to fare very well.

2010/07/20 llamariffic Hmm, macrocytosis here as well, but to be honest I've had it since before I truly embarked on drinking as a proper hobby. Similarly, stopped drinking entirely, and it didn't go away. Just one of those things, I think.
2010/07/19 girl ack!! It's weird to think that I am now a parental unit. It was nice to see you hwan!
2010/05/21 Hwan I recall trying earplugs well back in my undergrad years, to mixed results. My sleep was troubled by feelings of claustrophobia. I also have a, perhaps unfounded, fear of not hearing the essential alarm in the mornings. However, I may give these another go, thanks.
2010/05/21 llamatron Have you tried sleeping with earplugs? My flat faces out onto a main road, so I've started using the standard foam plugs. It took a few nights to get used to them, but they make a big difference.
2010/05/21 girl The original swedish title: "Men who hate women". I'm not sure if it's the fault of the translation, but I never liked the reporter dude.
