car vgap

Hmmmm.. my mileage went down a bit.. 549.4 km on 38.93L, which works out to be about 14.11 km/L (or 33.19 mpg), down slightly from my last fuel-up. I also revised the number I posted, since my source appears to have been incorrect. I did a bit of city driving, as well as some idling at Mr. Lube, which I think accounts for this drop in efficiency. 15km/L is probably near my peak value. I suppose driving slower would help too.

No time these days, no time at all. Spent a couple hours playing my VGA Planets turn last night. I've made quite a few mistakes with sending ships to the wrong places and such, and so now I'm extra careful in making sure my commands are properly allocated. I don't have a specific plan, I mostly just handle logistics, hunt out rich planets, and try to raise a significant army. Ideally I'd like to be ready to take advantage of a weakened opponent who's been using up all their resources fending off their other neighbours. But all of the other players are so far away! And we're only averaging four turns a week.

cruise

The next day of the cruise was an "at sea" day, meaning that we were stuck on the boat while it sailed between ports. Well, if you consider suntanning, eating, and relaxing as stuck. Angela and I had gone to bed late after a night at the nightclub, and consequently didn't have breakfast until noon. We spent some time on the foreward deck, watching for whales and flying fish. Patience and a watchful eye are required for this pastime, and we were awarded with a handful of glipses. Lots of flying fish, squadrons of silver flashing over the water, remarkably agile in flight.

Dinner was the first of two formal nights. Everyone dressed up. Oh, and though it had passed a couple weeks ago, we celebrated Angela's birthday, which meant (at least) two desserts that night.

After dinner, they had a minor show where everyone got to meet the Captain of the ship. I hadn't noticed it at the time, but it was later noted that he appeared a little flush. Angela's burns were beginning to really bother her, so, after some extensive testing, we purchased some sunburn relief spray and retired early.

Note for the 23rd of February.

2010/07/20 llamariffic Hmm, macrocytosis here as well, but to be honest I've had it since before I truly embarked on drinking as a proper hobby. Similarly, stopped drinking entirely, and it didn't go away. Just one of those things, I think.
2010/07/19 girl ack!! It's weird to think that I am now a parental unit. It was nice to see you hwan!
2010/05/21 Hwan I recall trying earplugs well back in my undergrad years, to mixed results. My sleep was troubled by feelings of claustrophobia. I also have a, perhaps unfounded, fear of not hearing the essential alarm in the mornings. However, I may give these another go, thanks.
2010/05/21 llamatron Have you tried sleeping with earplugs? My flat faces out onto a main road, so I've started using the standard foam plugs. It took a few nights to get used to them, but they make a big difference.
2010/05/21 girl The original swedish title: "Men who hate women". I'm not sure if it's the fault of the translation, but I never liked the reporter dude.
