car

Do you happen to know what it takes to install a line-in to a car stereo? My Echo has the cassette-only AM/FM setup which includes the button for a CD, but no CD changer (I'd go aftermarket anyway). But all I want to do is hook up an iPod or other mass-storage MP3 player so I can listen to tunes while driving. Or study languages... or listen to favourite episodes..or .. whatever!

Currently I listen to a Radiohead mix tape my sister got from another "DJ". The quotes are entirely sarcastic, since the "mixing" is minimal. She also gave me a Flaming Lips/Vaselines/others tape, but there's only a few songs that I like on that one. The point is, I need more access to music.

And yes, I know you can get one of those tape-to-stereo kits, but they're pretty wonky (ie. prone to breaking) and the sound quality isn't anything to brag about either.

dream

Last night I dreamt that a swordsman and a powerful demon were battling it out. The swordsman's only hope was to perform a special, sneaky tricksy maneuver.

In another scene, I'm at a picnic table outside a town hall out in the middle of nowhere. A group of citizens are having a feast, and they begin to chow down in a most beastly fashion, with nary a utensil in sight. They invite me to join in, although by this point most of the grub is gone. I pick up a plate of food but I discover that it's icecream and cake, which I don't really want so I give some to Angela, who is with me.

I get into a small wooden boat, wanting to leave this place. But the river has nearly dried up, and in the exposed patches of the riverbed are these giant leeches, with pink underbelies, and they're rotting in the sunlight. On the leeches are little white maggot-shaped leeches.. and suddenly I'm creeped out because I find one of the white ones (they're about the size of a thumb) stuck to my toes. I return to the townhall, go into one of the washrooms and try using hot water to remove the leech. It doesn't work, and I still can't pull it off, so I try using cold water. The leech slowly works its way off my foot, repulsed by the cold, and I wake up.

2010/07/20 llamariffic Hmm, macrocytosis here as well, but to be honest I've had it since before I truly embarked on drinking as a proper hobby. Similarly, stopped drinking entirely, and it didn't go away. Just one of those things, I think.

2010/05/21 Hwan I recall trying earplugs well back in my undergrad years, to mixed results. My sleep was troubled by feelings of claustrophobia. I also have a, perhaps unfounded, fear of not hearing the essential alarm in the mornings. However, I may give these another go, thanks.
2010/05/21 llamatron Have you tried sleeping with earplugs? My flat faces out onto a main road, so I've started using the standard foam plugs. It took a few nights to get used to them, but they make a big difference.
