I'm in a large room filled with walls of vines which create long aisles. I note that one of the aisles is booby-trapped with bamboo spears, a swinging trap that pierces from two sides. There is a group of people in here, and it's dimly lit.

Now I'm sitting in a room that features a large television at one end, with a simple table in the middle, the sort of table you might find in a high-school classroom. I'm sitting across from a young woman, at the edge of the table closest to the screen. I go outside, and am walking on the sidewalk in a neighbourhood. I'm approached by a woman who says that she has heard alarming noises coming from one of the houses. The two of us approach the front door. On the lawn is a shallow white pool, occupied by a number of large iguana-like lizards. They have longer heads that form into sharp beak-like mouths. A few of them spit water at me, so I use this file folder I'm carrying to protect myself. I enter the house.

Inside I walk into the kitchen, where a young mother is crying. There is a thin boy standing near her. I ask them what's wrong when a large man in blue jeans bursts in, blusteringly asking me who I am and what I'm doing there. I say something to the effect of "I'm with social services and have arrived to investigate a call!" He immediately becomes aquiescent, as if this happens all the time, and goes to sit down. I decide to examine the woman and child to see if they have any bruises or injuries on their arms or faces. I don't find any, but discover the boy is actually a young girl, as she is unwilling to take off her shirt. I'm somewhat embarassed by my mistake.

2010/07/20 llamariffic Hmm, macrocytosis here as well, but to be honest I've had it since before I truly embarked on drinking as a proper hobby. Similarly, stopped drinking entirely, and it didn't go away. Just one of those things, I think.

2010/05/21 Hwan I recall trying earplugs well back in my undergrad years, to mixed results. My sleep was troubled by feelings of claustrophobia. I also have a, perhaps unfounded, fear of not hearing the essential alarm in the mornings. However, I may give these another go, thanks.
2010/05/21 llamatron Have you tried sleeping with earplugs? My flat faces out onto a main road, so I've started using the standard foam plugs. It took a few nights to get used to them, but they make a big difference.
